Lithium-ion battery pack. I replaced the ni-cad batteries in my old Craftsman 19.2 drill with the Craftsman Lithium-ion power pack and have been very pleased. There is a larger pack that will probably suit a professional better, but these smaller (and less expensive) batteries lasted through any home job I’ve had so far. I’m no longer swapping ni-cad packs. In order to charge them, you have to purchase a new charging unit specifically designed for lithium-ion. The charger has a diagnostic circuit that evaluates the…

Throw out your NiCad batteries… Li-Ion is here! Warning: – Make sure you have the correct Sears C3 compatible tool before using this battery. – Make sure you have the correct Sears C3 charger for this battery (the correct charger has a red bottom). – When Li-Ion batteries run out of juice, the battery stops dead. I think this protects the battery from fully discharging, which shortens battery life. Not 100% sure of the science behind it. But, the first time this happened to me, I thought I broke my drill. haha…
